I was alerted to a car on Ebay in the US on Sunday by Shannon Birdwell (http://www.txdmc.org) that held all the hallmarks of an ME car, and in the correct vin range and have an interesting history with apparently a Saudi royalty connection.

The auction is here.

As the listing will end eventually here are some photos of the cars current condition.

The seller mentioned that the car still held Saudi plates..on closer inspection they arent Saudi..so I set to see what I could find out.......took a few hours but was worth it.

It says HAFA ADAI which translates to 'HELLO' in Chamorro, and also CNMI, which is 'Commonwealth of the Marina Islands'

After some serious googling I turned up this

http://aidsinfobbs.org/articles/wallstj/96/136

Have a read down and it mentions the car and the Prince, and the DeLorean as a gift and the fact it was left to rot.

Turns out this car was owned by Larry Lee Hillblom, founder of DHL..I emailed the seller again and he told me that he bought it from Larry's brother!

So anyway after some more googling I turned up this

http://personal.anderson.ucla.edu/polic ... LarryL.pdf

It mentions the Prince's name this time, and how they became involved with each other.

Prince Saud Bin Naif Abdulazzis is the name in the documents which I think is

Prince Nayef Bin AbdulAzis Al-Saud

http://www.pbs.org/wnet/wideangle/episo ... saud/2875/

And below it appears the Prince has a Facebook page, anyone fancy Facebooking him and asking about the DeLorean he used to own?

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Prince...ud/10158926866

There you go!

Whoever buys the car yes needs to do a full frame off, prob replace engine, fix rotted roof, sort interior etc........but it will have a very, very interesting history.

I'm loving the washing machine hose as well. Was the idea to put a washing machine motor in it for more horsepower?

Lol

I think the aircon hose must have broke, and they just crimped new ends on...looks like compressor had been changed too.

Haha... I've been wondering about this. Would any other car of this age left sitting around disintegrate in quite this way? D's certainly are pretty good at it. :D

I was thinking exactly the same thing here TT but Dan had the answer

Al, you certainly know your stuff on all these ME cars and think you should give the prince a poke (facebook style of course ;) )

From what ive read on here they all have a fascinating history. You will have to talk to me about the history over a beer or two.
