Nice one Al! It looks pretty good underneath now. Are those John herveys lower balljoints? You will have to take me for a ride in it sometime so I can see how the ride differs to mine.

Al - it's just occured to me. If the chassis Dave Howarth has for sale here: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=201 - is listed as being "just for an auto" - what modifications have you had to make to your car to make the chassis suit a manual? :?

You need to make modifications for the manual shifter, and drill a hole for the crossgate cable - the gearbox mounts are different too. I think thats it though

The only modification is to drill a hole for the crossgate cable

The only custom part is the bracket to hold the manual shifter to the auto mounts (lower & different)

Everything else is just a case of finding the original parts, many of which are no longer avialable - gearbox mounts being one of them. The rubber mounts that attach to the chassis are the same manual and auto.

The modification to the chassis is much easier to perform with a frame off!, Chris N had already made two templates to raise the shifter before on other cars, so all ok there.

I was very lucky with some of the impossible to get parts, and saved over 330 dollars by looking around and emailing whoever I could think of that might have some bits, then I was also lucky that Dan offered to bring the bits back from Vegas for me (as did Messrs Spratt and Monk, if Dan had run out of room), and also MNickels for a great price on the gearbox itself!

I was quite lucky too, got my bits from Josh Haldeman - I think they were from a burnt out car

Al, I thought I would show you a pic of your central locking pre-repair.

Shows the replacement relay (experimental and blagged for free from a supplier)
Shows an oem coil (purple) against my rewound copper enamelled thicker wire.

The central locking is now fully working
1 solenoid is now fully working
The second pic shows the burnt out solenoid.
This spool shattered when unwinding it heat build up in it.

As soon as you send me another couple of duff ones I will make as many good ones as I can with the parts.

Enjoy :D

I can imagine the standard new-owner-question-list:

- doors are hangin' down
- too bad there's no real flux capacitor
- where do i go for a new windscreen
- when driving on the highway @156Mph, the rear end broke out, anybody has a spare fender?

:D

no but seriously, i am sorry to hear you've sold it. I do hope you keep hang'a'bout.
