Pretty much Gez!

Yep! That's the only mystery now. I'm not really clued up on the early cars, which is why I could benefit from someone with more information and knowledge on these. It sounds like this car was sent out to the UK possibly before the cars went on general sale. From what I understand, no cars went out of the country to start with, not even for promotion... :?

So then, your car isn't a Middle Eastern Car, it's a:

ORIGINAL LEFT HAND DRIVE UK MAINLAND PROTOTYPE PROMOTIONAL CAR

I estimate the car now to be £40k for it's exclusivity.........

Job for Eurotec?

Hmmm... a little annoying that all of my club apparel say's 'Middle East' when technically it's not now! Still, I could always alter them the same way I have done with my signature... ;)

We'll it's got a Middle Eastern Vin Plate! :D

Very interesting Carl!

Well it could be Pilot 23!: http://www.pjgrady.co.uk//GenericConten ... _Cars.html

Or Pilot 26 or Pilot 27 - all were promotional cars, and "location unknown".

Although the grooved hood (non flapped) is a bit strange of course....

Failing that, it could also be on here somewhere: http://www.pjgrady.co.uk//GenericConten ... _Cars.html

Also, you've got a "late style" ashtray - which really would normally rule out anything under VIN 3000ish?

A lot of the inconsistencies could be due to not knowing which parts got randomly replaced over the years - certainly if both cars had front end impacts, it's quite possible that the current hood was sourced separately and replaced in 1986 or whatever. As for the ashtray - well this probably wasn't damaged in the accident(s). But you never know! :D

Are there any particular signs that would differentiate Pilot 23 (lets say) from one of the early 500 VINs? Maybe 531, 537 or 549? Or indeed one of the early VINs that's not on the list!
