Ok jokes aside, I would be very cautious of this modification.
Normal power steering is hydraulic and the "power" action is done within the rack. The electric system is just a way of adding more torque force to your steering column. Imagine opening the door of your car and sticking a 6ft scaffold pole through the steering wheel and using it to turn the steering. It's this force that your exerting on your UJ's and rack and pinion with the electric retro fit. Fine in something like a Corsa that has electric power steering because the joints and rack were made to take the torque forces. But remember the De rack never was designed for this force and they wear pretty easily on their own.
I would imagine too it will exert force on the steering column mountings and pressure on the bulkhead bearing too.
It's not a moan about originality, it's just expressing my concern as an engineer. Good luck to Ed, but personally I'd give it a wide berth.
