Postby Capt. Chaos » Mon Feb 29, 2016 6:28 am

Hello Friends,

does anybody of you know anything about that car and his installed BAE Turbo Charger
VIN:SCEDT26T2BD006101

Maybe you even know when it was installed.

This car was offered to me and I am maybe interested to purchase, but I like to collect as much information before about this Delorean, before I made my decision

Thanks in advance

Saw a few pictures of this car, looks like in great shape, even if it has a few rust spot on the underside, but nothing you can't repair ;)

Yes, he is right the offer I have is from America.
Does anybody know something about the Turbo Chargers
are they reliable the BAE Chargers or do they break down every time?
How much more Horse Power are they add?
The pictures from the bottom of the car I've seen,
it's really a little bit rusty. I guess the car just parked for several years?
The guy told me the Turbo Chargers have been installed two years after
production.
What happened if they break, is it possible to find spare parts?

I think most would agree that the after market turbo kits which were installed back in the 80's were never a perfect setup, they do offer increased HP, numbers quoted vary a lot, I've never actually seen a BAE turbo'd D on a Dyno.

Generally they run at very low boost simply because the stock K-Jet injection system wasn't that well suited to forced induction, for example the fuel enrichment under boost was a bit of a fudge, and too much boost and the injectors risk popping out amongst other things.

That said, they can run reliably, and because of the low boost the turbo probably don't overstrain the engine.

Turbo parts shouldn't be too much of a problem, I'm sure people have had them rebuilt and the turbo's weren't DMC specific so I dare say there are options for replacements.

As for chassis rust, it can be an issue, and it somewhat depends on your level of DIY skill as to how much hassle it is to repair, however anything can be fixed if the price is right to start with.
