Hi, there should be a little catch thing on the underneath which engages with a lock in the rear fascia
Do you have a lock in the hole? This is opened by the handle behind drivers seat

Yeah there seems to be a lock in the hole but its missing the loop (50 on the exploded view). My thoughts are now, perhaps the lock doesn't work so the previous owner took the loop out to allow the engine cover to open without too much hassle. I can't seem to locate a replacement lock part. It's not numbered on the exploded view. :text-imnewhere:

If the lock latches with a screwdriver and unlatches ok with the handle then you just need the loop?

Do you mean poke a screwdriver in there to see if it latches? I'll try later when I get back.

It turns out the piece is number 47 on the exploded view. It's not on Ed's website and it has a price of $0.00 on the US website. I guess that means they're rarer that a hen's wisdom teeth :animals-chickencatch:

Yeah it's in there but my thinking is that the lock mechanism may be damaged and the previous owner took the loop out to prevent it from locking and therefore being difficult to open again.

I'll try activating it when I get in to see if it moves with the lever behind the seat

Hi Al,

Funnily enough, I was just looking at it all last night... it appears that the engine cover locking mechanism is working fine, I'm just missing the loop that is attached to the cover. Luckily, that part seems to be available from Ed so I'll get one ordered!!

Changed the struts all round last night too :dmcdoors: - much easier than I was expecting - felt like a right mechanic!! 8-)
