Al,
They'll probably charge you £100 "admin" or "increase on your screen excess" to use a "non-associated" windscreen supplier. Despite what your policy document states in the T & C
Check this before you go ahead.
I had a right old ding dong by doing it myself. They would only pay for the glass itself, less my £75 excess, less another £100 "admin fee" for using a non associated fitter (because they all declined to work on a "classic" car) The non associated fitter in the end was me (and I could therefore not claim for any labour time) so they effectively tried to charge me as a policy holder a £100 admin fee to process my claim, which was in effect far less value than if they'd have paid an associated company who would have marked up the screen price and added labour costs!
Suffice to say litigation threats and withdrawal of two High end Car club associations with the particular insurer came into force.
I ended up following this up (over the heads of the insurer) directly with the insurance Ombudsman and Lloyds of London their underwriters directly in their complaints department, to get some form of clarity for Windscreen Claims on Classic cars.
Let us know how you get on.
