+1 on the VR6 conversion, a nice modern engine, pretty easy to get hold of, modern turn key reliability, fits nicely in the engine bay, good weight to maintain car balance etc...

A nice option IMHO, even if not the most powerful, it's the turn key reliability, and smooth running engine that many D owners crave.

It's simply not worth putting many hundreds of horsepower in a car that wasn't designed for it unless you are going to do some real upgrades to the brakes, suspension etc...
