So obviously when replacing any existing ball joint you would just carry over your current circlip and it would be fine? The nut thread matches the original, but not if you're replacing the Special T ones. Does the DCUK joint come with a nut? Nylock?

Because we got these made so fast, he was out of stock of the circlips, he said he'd get them in on Monday for us, we can then have them supplied with the joint. You could obviously re-use your old one (if you dont damage it getting it off). But much nicer to use a new shiny one that could come with the joint.
As I've got a drawer full of useless joint's I had plenty of new circlips so fitted one of those today. The joint comes with nylocks, you can request a hole for a split pin, but you'd need to re-use your old nut. We can get these new, but they are blooming expensive for just one nut as again these need to be made to order. To be fair the nylock would be fine. It's just OCD geeks like me that want the "original" look with the split pin.

Just a question on point 3 Darren, the bottom plate thickness. If the spring tension is pulling the on the joint upwards, trying to pull the ball from the socket, how can the bottom plate bend downwards? maybe when driving and the suspension is moving it could happen over time?

As far as I can understand Phil, its to do with the return movement when the car has gone over a bump (sort of hammer effect by momentum) This was raised in my major concern on the VW special T circlip groove. If these forces can bow the bottom plate of the joint, it would easily rip off the very thin circlip retaining shoulder on that Special T joint I looked at.

New boots, nyloc nuts and drilled in case you want to fit castle nuts and pins etc.

Manufacture of club stock is now underway!

Again, excellent work fellas.

What is the final cost for a pair then?

I have special t ball joints installed with the retaining ring. I think one was drilled, and one wasnt so I drilled the remaining balljoint when they were installed. Can I expect much trouble caused by that retaining ring that was pressed on?

I need to replace my collapsable front springs, so I'll replace the joints at the same time for peace of mind.
