Hi all,
I've already posted a couple of threads but thought I'd introduce myself here too. I'm not a DeLorean owner but I have had my eye out for the right De for a while and I can't decide if to buy a restoration project or something in far better condition in the 17 - 20k kind of region. Also considering importing vs buying a car already in the UK. I'm here to learn as much as possible about my forthcoming purchase and hopefully I'll be filling in that VIN # on my profile very soon :)

Cheers,

K

Hi Kieran,

Welcome to the club!

The choice of whether to go for a restoration project or not is really down to how much of it you'll do yourself and how much experience you have of working on old cars. My advice would be unless you are fairly handy with a spanner, and would enjoy the restoration itself, then go for a car in decent nick. At the end of the day you're unlikely to spend much less once you've got a project up to decent level than you would have spent on a decent car in the first place. And of course spent HOURS/DAYS/WEEKS/YEARS in the process :D

Thanks for the welcome and cheers for the advice. I'm not totally inexperienced with a spanner and think I would enjoy the project but I've never done a full restoration just small jobs on previous cars and I think I would rather buy a running daily driver type of car and just do bits of work on it as needed.

Am also in the same boat as Kieran, have came here for some advice or the best way to go about owning one.

My name is David and from N. Ireland, have always loved DeLoreans and eventually want to own one. Hopefully won't be long and I'll also be filling in the VIN part of my profile :)
