Fitting front hub with new bearing - a problem!

Postby bigglesdmc » Fri Apr 09, 2010 5:47 pm

Hi all - I need some advice here. I am trying to fit my front wheel hub that has a brand new bearing fitted onto the stub axle. When tightened there is play of about 3mm where the hub can slide back and forth on the stub axle. I suspect tyhere is suppose to be a spacer in which case it has always been missing. Any ideas? I have attached 4 pictures of my axle and hub - can you see anything missing?

As above ^^^^^^^^^

Once it is on, torque the but 30/32mm nut to 168ft lbs (if I remember right)
The enaring has the pre-load built in.

Double check disk run-out with a run out gauge before re-assembling the caliper etc...
I check to 0.1mm max but I think in the D it is 0.2mm (if I remember, just had a beer!)

Thanks Guys - all done and dusted. I can't believe I drove down to Canvey Island and back with that amount of play. Infact it seemed to handle really well!
