The anti-roll bar transfers all the drag of the lower control arm to the frame extension. The FE is made from pretty thin steel by design and the force from the ARB tranlates to a "forward moment" being applied to the tip of the "cone". In other words, it tries to rotate it. The strengthening bracket increases the distance from the centre of the moment over which the force is applied.
