Servicing Items and Part Numbers

Postby Chris Hawes » Wed Jun 18, 2014 9:07 pm

How about we create a new section of the forum that has a nice simple all in one check list of items needed for servicing the car and crucially the part numbers?

The parts cross reference section is building up nicely but another as a one stop location for all the service related parts would be nice and convenient when it comes to time for a service?

I'll start with what I know in regard to the items that need checking/replacing but sure there must me more parts/items I've not covered:-

Servicing
Oil 10/40 semi synthetic – 6000 miles/annually Volume needed from empty ?
Oil Filter
brake fluid – change every two years?
Grease nipples on control arms for ball joints upper and lower
Dist Cap (every 12,000 miles?)
Rotor Arm (every 12,000 miles?)
Air filter
coolant – 50% mix? Which type/does it matter
clutch fluid (dot4 only) volume from empty required ?
spark plugs
fuel filter
brake pads – greenstuff

Belts
aircon belt
altnerator belt

aircon
R134a gas (amount required 950g?) Oil amount?
Orifice tube
Accumulator

check for play in balljoints

The above lacks the current part numbers. I know some of those previously published are no longer correct/current so any help with publishing those that are known to be current/correct would be great.

What's with the changing oil every 6 months regardless of mileage? What a complete waste of money!

Ju, that's just the way I do mine, I know most owners would/should do theirs on a 12 month cycle, which is absolutely fine given the limited number of miles most people do.

My car gets a fair bit of use though, so I would rather change it out every 6 months (just my own personal preference), and since it's less than the cost of what I would spend on a night out on the tiles, at least it's not something which is literally getting peed away within a matter of hours.

I get it IF your covering the miles, but changing it every 6 months regardless of miles just seems a bit daft. It's no different sat in the sump, than it is in 5 litre can on a shelf.

Thanks for the comprehensive list Mike.
I now have all the bits except for:-

HT Leads - PFV902576 (Volvo 260/760 series B28 Ignition Lead set)

None of the motor factors I went to recognised the above part number. Any more information available so I can help source the right set?
Which version of the B28 is the DeLorean as I think there were multiple variants of the B28???

Early 80's Volvo 760. B28E engine. I've had a B and a C reg and both had the right engine, it's the newers ones that have the wrong engine. I've had 2 of these volvos with the same engine and the HT leads are identical to the D :)
