Front / rear facias paint and mis shaped -ness..

Postby clocktown64dd » Sat Nov 28, 2015 11:28 am

I'm going to have a go at painting the front and rear facias. The black isn't a problem but what colour / paint code / RAL number paint do people go for to get the best result / colour? Also my front bumper has a saggy middle over the front badge, what method works best for getting this back to normal?
Thanks!

Drop me a PM with your email address and I'll send you the official paint formula from Dmc. Whether you will be able to find a paint shop who can make it up though is another question.

Most people use an off the shelf Alfa Romeo colour:
Alfa Romeo, Grigio Antares Stromboli Met. Code 651A

It's in the ballpark, but it is not an exact match (lighter than the original).

Here is a comparison between an original bumper and one painted in the Alfa colour:

I used the 651A, in fact I posted it up after having mine scanned with a digital paint scanner. I'm pretty sure mine were as factory, so seems its as close as you'll ever get.

Wow fantastic. Do you need to do an under primer? And lacquer? Stupid question I know!

I think they just use a 'normal' primer, but I'm no expert in this field (or any other for that matter  ) if you run it past a car painter, I'm sure they can tell you what's what

Use a good quality acrylic primer, just don't load it on too thick. That'll be fine. :)
