Name and Shame for the Bodges on VIN 04989

Postby delorean12uk » Tue Sep 15, 2009 2:42 pm

Their should be a section on this forum where we can name and shame previous bodges on our beloved pieces of crap. I found the problem why the engine was cutting out when the doors were locking, and that is because somebody wired the inertia switch into the door circuit. I would like to thank the Novice Electrician who done that and ask him not to give up his day job!!!
I would like to thank everybody who contributed Ideas and suggestions as to what it could have been, I would especially like to thank Martin because he was absolutely spot on..............................Martin, have you ever worked on this car before 1999?? No seriously a big thank you to everybody that contributed ideas, without them I would probably still be pulling the car apart tracing the wiring through. Cheers J

;) I didn't even have me schematic in front of me. And no, I hadn't turned a spanner on any DeLorean until autumn 2001 when #1458 arrived :D

On the subject of the schematic - I have a laminated A0 original colour schematic that I got from Dave H back in 2001 or summat. I've never seen another and would love to reproduce it if anyone has access to a stonking great scanner?

I've got a laminated one on A3.

I could scan this in twice (2 sizes of A4) as a start and add it to the downloads section.

I bet the A0 sized one would look nice on a garage wall. I would have one !

Can scan in A0 but it would be black and white.

Can also scan colour to A3... and save as a pdf to 'zoom' into ...

This is a colourised version of the original one often reproduced in B&W (the one in the workshop manual) not the one done by Mike Clemens in the US.

I suggest to start selling these colored a2 or a1 at the club shop. I'd buy one immediately.
