Door mirror - any ideas ???

Postby Dave M » Sat Mar 31, 2018 9:46 pm

Any ideas on fixing my door mirror - I’ve had a good look at spuds post regarding the fix but my wiring connectors are all intact so not a case of being able to slide the star lugs down the cable - I suppose I could neatly cut the wires and rejoin after fixing the mirror but would prefer not to do that

Two options - cut the wires leaving about 8 inch tails from the connector inside the door - or stagger the tails, then solder and heat shrink wrap. It'll be a solid repair and no one will see it.

Or remove the wires from the wiring socket you may be able to get them out with a watch makers screwdriver? You can always buy a new connector. I also have some spare star lug washers that I could send you?

I bottled it spud - I took all the shit thick textured paint off using gasket remover. ( your idea and it worked well ) - plastic primer then sprayed with satin paint ( from Aaron ) then used ----- wait for it ---- used a couple of stainless nuts bolts and washers and screwed the 2 together from underneath behind the plastic cover - not ideal but does the job
