Im thinking it will do soon.

cis6409 wrote:You could test it by removing the black/purple and black wire connectors out of the inertia switch and temporarily join them together with a jumper connector. Crank it over and listen If the pump runs, then you know its the switch at fault.

I bypassed the rpm relay and the pump was buzzing so all good there. Reinstalled the relay. I then bypassed the inertia switch and low and behold the car fires up like nothing had happened. Went for a drive, everything was fine. Got back on the drive, switched off, waited 20secs, tried starting the car and got the same result. Was cranking but wouldnt fire up. Bypassed the inertia and it fired up. Im pretty confident its the switch. I was meant to see if i could start the car without bypassing tonight but finished work late so will have to wait till tomorrow now.

I havent cleaned that area. Its the one ground i think i missed and clearly its long overdue.

Have a play with the switch, and make sure the plunger isn't sticking... may be ok once freed up and re-set?

Yes. Haha. I tried starting the car in both positions. Same result either way. FYI, no matter how stupid, silly or simple, any and all advice is good to me. Its very easy to try anything and everything that isnt something as silly as pulling/pushing the plunger.

Anyway, the newish one arrived today so will test that out

Well thats annoying. They both work fine. Oh well, i have a spare now in case the original decides to die completely. Andyd, you may have been correct in saying it just hadnt reset it correctly.

Well that was an expensive lesson. Gonna look into AA/green flag/etc cover i think.

It happens don't worry about it.....

I had the AA out last year and faulty Fuel pump was diagnosed, they had no idea on the inertia switch which I had inadvertently booted at some point.

Keep in mind any recovery person under 35 thinks an inertia switch is something which is used to overcome a faulty plasma conduit right before we go to warp speed scotty..
