Last weekend saw new tie rod ends and rubber gaitors as i understand perished or split gaitors to be an MOT failure. I thought i would change the tie rod ends too since the rubber on them had pretty much disappeared also.

Today I decided once and for all to sort out the passenger window. I thought the motor was dead so I removed it, took it apart, fiddled with the winder then put it back together. I then hooked it up to the drivers side and voila... it worked. My next thought was there must be a break in the wire between the motor and the switch. I knew the switch was a bit intermittent so i gave it a clean up with some connector spray and now thats sorted. Swish!

So knowing the motor worked i reinstalled the motor and guess what, the wires on the motor had originally been put on the wrong way. Damn PO, he strikes again. Wish I had known that before as it was a real pain in the ass to remove when the window is fully down. Either way, ive saved myself a lot of money for the time being and now have 2 working windows and got the door cards back on finally. Lovely jubbly! Its now not so much of an eyesore inside.

So i think ive earnt my beer for today.

And yes, I still need to get the bloody fog light mod sorted. I dont know why I keep putting it off.

So its getting ever closer to MOT day. Whats the rules/law on an unregistered car filling up at a petrol station? Or is it best to just make a few trips filling up a 10ltr jerry can?

Well this is a little annoying. Hazards are fine when sidelights arent on but when they are they flash independently of each other. It was fine before i changed one of the side markers to a new one from DGo. I wonder if i change the other the problem will be cured as its the only thing thats different in the loop? Otherwise i kinda like it. The rears work fine.

Have you changed the flasher relay (under the steering wheel) for a LED compatible one....? 100708
If not, you need to - it's all about current draw, how that thing works.
And yes you should really have both sides on LED to balance it out - the current draw is significant lower on the LEDs.

I'm assuming the front facing orange lights are on old school bulbs - leave these as incandescent for now otherwise you will open up no end of other potential issues which would make diagnosing this impossible.

The indicators are still bulbs yes. The side markers are LEDs where one side marker housing is new, the other original. I dont have an updated flasher relay either, its still original. However, i changed the side markers back to bulbs and still the same issue. The headlights are all H4 with LED sidelights.

I can only assume its the side marker housing as it was all fine till i changed it. The driver side was so corroded that i broke the bulb when trying to change it hence the new housing. I left the other side as it was fine but i do have a spare housing for it. So i was going to change it to see if that cures the problem

It might be an unrelated problem with the front wiring harness. Those front bulbs are dual-filament - i.e. there are 2 sets of wires going to them, and it looks like the drivers side one is flashing perhaps on a different filament to the other side?... maybe. Possibly a short somewhere, maybe corrosion, maybe even just one of the bulbs is half blown

Im fairly sure that neither filaments are blown on either bulb. It does look like the passenger side, sidelight function turns off when hazards are activated but the drivers side stays on or the sidelight filament has blown. Bizarre really. Ill have to remove the indicator lenses and pay better attention as to what filament is doing what and when. If it has blown, i have a spare bulb kit so will change it over and see what happens

Check the drivers side front bumper indicator earth connection back to the negative battery post.

They're called lamps, not bulbs. You plant bulbs in gardens to grow stuff. ... ;)
