Certainly doesnt smell and from the pics mr ward posted on facebook im inclined to believe its the flywheel seal too. It never rains but it pours  so thats both sides on the to do list now.

I knew at some point i was gonna have to do it, just wish it was later rather than sooner. I assume im still ok to drive it as long as the oil is kept at the correct level.

Looks like those lower springs will have to wait. Gonna have to buy various seals and a clutch kit now. Yay!

Yeah its fine if the oil level is ok. If its a small leak then I really wouldn't worry about it. Just keep wiping it off and check the oil level evey so often. I bet there are thousands of these running around leaking oil.

I looked at mine this evening after it had a 100+ mile run at the weekend. Exactly the same, oil on the chassis cross member and running down the bell housing to the lowest point on gearbox. I just wiped it off and will live with it for now. The level on the dipstick hasn't dropped that much at all in over 2k miles.

Yeh it’s like spilling a glass of milk. Half a pint, but it looks like a gallon. Mines leaked from the crank seal for yrs, but it’s fuck all really. Stops rust on the cross member

I wouldn’t worry at all about changing that seal until your clutch goes

Then it’s an excuse to take it out and do both jobs

Gonna take the car to work tomorrow. Oh and those that are aware, the squeaking noise was just a damp belt and the smoke was just the cat heating up oil/water.

So I decided to take the car out for a long drive to oxford to the wychwood brewery on my birthday. The car proved up to the challenge even enduring heavy traffic on the M25 and the constant on/off rain showers. Im glad I have implemented a fan override switch. I feel I have a really good car and the more I drive it, the less I worry if the car will make its destination.

The brewery do tours but as we've already done that on a previous visit we skipped that and went straight to stocking up on natures nectar and had a cheeky pint at the bar. The monkey was very happy with his haul and its the first time Ive had to use the cargo net.

On the way home, we decided we would drop into the steam coach for some dinner, which was lovely. Justin and Ben have gone all out on the halloween decorations that put the Addams Family to shame. Thanks again for your hospitality guys and an entertaining evening.
