POR-15 is good stuff. I used it with marine clean, hot water, and prep n ready as per instructions. Other coating systems are available! (Which are admittedly cheaper)

Hello.

I'd second that. Although it is time consuming stripping back the epoxy to where you're back to solid material. Prep's always the key.

Seriously, WTF was the previous owner on? Theyve soldered (rather poorly) wires into anywhere. Theyve also put different coloured wires together. So a green wire just turns into a grey wire for no reason. I literally have to follow the entire length of the wire. The pictures show where some of the crappy alarm wires are wired to.

The car is now running! Success!!

Got a leak at the crankshaft which may go after ive run the car a little longer but that seal is on the to do list.

Cat gets really hot way too quickly so i need to get a bypass till i decide to upgrade the exhaust system to stainless. Could just be an air leak somewhere so i will be changing the injectors and their seals and at the same time new spark plugs.

Tbh im really chuffed with myself that ive got the car started. A few connectors cleaned and changed all the relays and voila! Now need to get her running smoothly.

Thanks for all the advice given guys. Its been a real help.

Gotta find out why the car is overheating. Temp goes up to 250+ and the fans dont kick in. Fans do work when bypassed but not when connected to the otterstat

Is the engine really overheating or does the gauge tell you that the engine is overheating?

FYI: the water temperature sensor is located at the RH bank. A (hot) air bubble may get stucked at the sensor while circulating in the water and make it show an incredibly high temperature in the instrument cluster.
This happens because air has a much lower thermal inertia than water, therefore air gets hotter than water in the same amount of time.
So the gauge will tell you that engine is overheating, but the otterstat won't trigger the fans because the engine is not really overheating.
It has happened to me the first day I took it out from the box once driven home in 2009.

Pretty sure the engine is overheating cos it gets hot. Ive cleaned the otterstat terminals and still the same (fans dont come on).

I bypassed the fans today and they appeared to do nothing. All the coolant pipes/rad are cold to the touch (i allowed the heat gauge to go no further than the 220 mark). So im wondering if theres now something wrong with the water pump. I need to invest in one of those laser thermometer things

I dont think i have a condenser either. Could that cause a problem. All i appear to have are these broken cables
