Not long to go now, it arrived in Southampton on Monday. Customs paperwork and payments have been made and cleared. Its now on its way to the car shippers handling yard in Milton Keynes. Looking to have it collected towards the end of next week.

Not yet :x :x :x It looks like its been caught up in the backlog of shipping containers as seen on the news. I am chasing the shipping agents in the UK again for an update. 9 days to cross the North Atlantic and now its been nearly 2 weeks to get from Southampton to Swansea!!!

Owning one which is not running...

Just been told that if all goes well it will be unloaded on Friday but they said they cant guarantee it as the docks are a nightmare at the moment. If all goes well It should be with me early next week.

Reading the news, the next couple of months does not look good for shipping cars. Container prices are going up from $2000 to $8000

Exciting times!
Fingers crossed it’s sooner rather than later.

Is she a runner?

When she’s in hand let me know if you want me to pop over and look around her with you.
(Socially distanced of course ;) )

Yes and no. If someone wants a good project car located in the UK I would sell for the right price. This car has taken me about 5 months to source it and ship it. I would use the money to find another Delorean for restoration etc. It’s was always gonna be a car that will be a part time project and at some stage I would sell to fund another one. My enjoyment in cars comes from finding them, and restoring them. I have 2 other cars I'm working on, so between them and the family I have lots to keep me busy.

For now I’m super excited about working on it

Unless the car is 24k gold plated I can never understand the logic of shipping cars across the Atlantic in a container. I shipped mine roro which is how the cars first left Belfast for USA in 1981. Much cheaper than a container...

The issue with RORO is the car needs to run in the first place. Those who buy a project car in a non-running state have no choice but to go with container shipping.
