Delorean & Snow

Postby dannyj75 » Sun Feb 07, 2021 3:39 pm

So the forecast for the next few days would normally see most of us keep the cars in the garage and under a blanket...

Well due to an issue with my new Honda daily driver, the D has been filling in. (Irony - 40 year old British built car standing if for a 2017 Honda due to build quality fault!)

I guess tomorrow I will find out how it handles in the snow and ice. I am betting that the best thing for these conditions is the perfect balance of 80/20 weight ratio, rear wheel drive and a heater that just about clears the screen!

fingers crossed I don't end up off the black stuff.

Although, it may not make it off the drive if the doors are iced shut.

Car also booked in for 4 wheel laser alignment on Wednesday so I hope all 4 wheels are still pointing in the right direction by then. :)

Be careful out there. Its very easy to have the back end spin round on you.

I was daily driving mine for 3 or 4 months due to my 03 ford focus not being structurally safe as the sils were rusted through and close to the rear suspension. It failed the MOT. Go figure the delorean would bail me out.

I decided that I should get another car sorted when they started salting the roads. Glad I did. Im not sure if I would want to drive the D in this weather even more so since I have zero heat.

What tyres have you got on your D at the moment? I took mine out to the Alps a couple of winters ago - the General Grabbers aren't actually too bad in the snow for traction, being an SUV tyre. I'd just be careful about understeer / braking with the fronts. Apart from the issues de-steaming the car, DeLoreans aren't actually too bad in the snow.

That last photo looks great Jez. Weird how the snow sits perfectly above the side strip :D
