Historic Vehicle applications next week...?

Postby jerzybondov » Fri Mar 26, 2021 6:39 pm

Just thought I'd do a headcount on who's planning to apply for historic status next week? How many of us have got an 01/01/81 registration date that enables us to do it?

My typo of 10/01/81 in theory rules me out but I'm going to try anyway.

It does seem like the date that goes down for first registration is completely random. DVLA have no rhyme or reason, especially with the way they stitched up Mike W on this front recently!

Ill be trying. Worst case they say no and then its just 1 more year of tax to pay.

The DVLA as always are as clear as thick, dense mud and theres still alot of confusion about all this.

I'm planning to apply. Mines down as 1/1/81 on a W plate so should be straightforward.

...fucking 17/8/81...

...no mention made of hand-stamped April 81 plate, textured pontoons or flocked coin holder on my V5C...

I feel the pain. May 1981 build, and having to wait for 11 months (until April ‘22) before being allowed to claim historical vehicle status.

I would be surprised if they stopped it. Its more likely they will just increase everyones road tax on their normal cars.

Yep, 01/01/81 here! I'll be at the post office waving my V5 about on the 1st.
