I'm not sure a DeLorean has ever been stolen in the UK?

I desperately don't want to be the first. I had a Defender stolen on my drive a couple of years ago. Was gutted. Only ever wanted a Defender and a Delorean, I can't have 2 for 2 nicked!.

They have to get it off the drive first  and if they lock the doors, they would likely be trapped.

Defenders are highly desirable. Think we had about 5 stolen from down my street last year. If you really want something, then get a disklok. Its about £100 and supposedly the best on the market. Also, get a battery isolator. Majority of people have no idea where the battery is located anyway but its a simple thing to add. Clamps are pretty easy to remove and acts more as a hindrance by adding an extra 30secs or less whilst they are on your drive.

Other options include removing the rpm relay each time. Fuel pump wont work without it or pop the inertia switch as again, fuel pump wont work.

I only know of 2 deloreans that have ever been stolen and both were in the states. One was found within a month because the car is too hot basically. The other was for a joyride and was then set fire too. How true that story is i dont know.

There WAS a DeLorean supposedly stolen in and around the St Helens area, near Manchester, from rough memory, around about 2012.

As Julian suggested, they almost did bring it back!

About 3 days to a week later, it was found in patch of wasteland completely smashed in, every panel and glass, and the bonnet was missing, only to be found at a scrappy within a week of finding the rest of the car due to a tip off. The owner had to buy his own bonnet back from the scrappy before he crushed it after he said he'd report him for handling stolen goods. The scrappy basically told him "you call the police pal, and I can guarantee by the time you return with them, that thing will be crushed".

I met the owner the year before that. Nice chap. Can't remember his name now. Never seen or heard from him being in the DeLorean circle for a long time. Last time I heard anything (after the above event), he had hopes for turning his car into a time machine.

All of what I heard was hear-say of course. So some of the story could have been embellished, or of course, it could have been an insurance setup rather than a real stealing, as is usually proposed by sceptics after such events.

Who knows.

After that event, I bought a disclok for my steering wheel, and that thing lives on the car whenever it's left anywhere, including my garage. I also have a tracker and a remote-abled ignition disabler all wired in as well of course as an alarm.
