Arran is SPOT ON.
I was talking about a Ferrari 308 GT4:
http://www.classicandperformancecar.com/buying/octanebuyingguide/223158/ferrari_308_gt4_19731980.htmlFor equivalent condition, they seem to go for about £2k less than Ds. Must be a low demand thing, because there were fewer of them made (less than 3000) and they're a much better car. But then there's the BTTF effect which I reckon adds about £10k onto the value of what D's would otherwise go for.
The one I bust the door of at the classic show was a 308 GTB - the two seater Magnum PI job:
http://www.seriouswheels.com/def/Ferrari-308-GTB-B-RA.htmMartin gets second prize for going for the Mondial - it was the 308 GT4 replacement, (and goes for similarly low money) but to my mind it's slightly less pure than the 308, just looks like a crap 80s ferrari, rather than a oooh, what's that?!
They're not too bad to run either apparently - perhaps a £1500 service every 3-5 years but other than that parts aren't bad (you get reconditioned stuff like you do with Ds, at a similar price) and the engine is solid considering it's Italian. Things to watch out for are body rot and iffy gearboxes.
So, who else is in with me?
