Hi All

just wondered if any of you lot on here are expert or know anything about tuning/rebuilding SU carbs, ive got a spitfire and cant get the damn thing running right, its sat in a garage for 12 years until i rescued it... any help is much appreciated :D

Hi Mike, other than the obvious making sure they are clean inside, jets etc, have you checked the oil level in the 'dash pots'?

Yes I've overhauled many SU's :)
They were on A series engine metros years ago and were cheap student cars when I was at uni. I got a lot of pie-n-pints from workinf on them!

Check everything else is fine first though such as air leaks, valve clearences, timing, spark plugs etc.

You can get overhaul kits from places like Burlem fuel systems etc.

Easy compared to k jet!

Hi guys
Thanks for the replys, yes ive cleaner them all out, put fresh oil in the dash pots etc, i might have known Mr T would have been inside n out of these ! Haha i think a rebuild kit it gona be
The next step, i cant work out how it hot put away in drving condition and now it just refuses to run right, i will have a look at that company you mentioned nick and see what they can do
