Yes, absolutely. Both run the same Chrysler 1.6 unit (that also gets a supercharger in the S), but it was cheaper at the time to detune the Cooper engine for the One than source a new engine. Hardly gave you any extra mpg though! But now there's a separate 1.4 unit in the R56 minis (gen 2) which actually makes a point for itself in being slower for a reason, if you know what I mean...
