Looks like a blood splat on lower rear section of the trailer door (latch handle) and you can see the guys arm, elbow and hand as he is still in the drivers seat. So nope, I don't think he's sat that there admiring the view.

somehow, I don't think he was tailgating, he probably wasn't paying attention whilst do to many knots and a bit of crumpet in the passenger seat playing with his gear knob
