The Worlds Most Expensive Classic Car Race

Postby Darren C » Sun Sep 16, 2012 7:45 pm

This weekend at Goodwood saw the greatest concentration of Ferrari 250 GTO ever assembled in one place. Only 39 of these marvellous cars were made between 1962 & 63.

FIFTEEN of the 39 GTO’s were together at Goodwood, and there to RACE! :o

Adam (my son, pictured above) & I were VERY privileged to have VIP passes to the event and got right amongst it all.

GTO’s lining up to race..

Doing what they were meant to do….

And after….car Chassis 4293 (Spa 500km winner and 2nd at LeMan in 1963) has a new driver…

What an amazing day; estimate a £400 to £500 Million line up!

You have the most amazing weekends Darren !!! I'm green with envy.

I think some of those same cars were on this side of the pond a few months ago, all on the same ferry to Amelia Island

Wow Dermot!

Yes 4 of those were here this weekend. No 24 is the same car my son sat in yesterday!
It's owned by William E Connor II an American Billionaire. Really nice chap, spoke with him over the weekend and he was so kind to let Adam sit in the car considering its a £30 Million car ;)
Most of them are now on-route to Spa for another event on Wednesday.

2 Nice Gallo Fly 365 GTB/4 Daytona's

No need for envy, if your over here next year, you can have a weekend with us ;)

How'd you get that shot on the ferry?

Regards
D

Here's a little treat, not sure the link will work for very long...

You can see Nick's car in my pictures (chassis No 3757) had quite a nice chat with him about the car. :D

Thanks for the link. That was an interesting insite.

The photo comes from the Jalopnik website. Nothing to do with me, except I remember reading about them at the time. there is quite an active F-club around Atlanta, not surprisingly.
