Hmmm,

If we all put the same numberplate on our cars then only one of us need buy tax & insurance or have an MOT.
How about we take it in turns each year to be the Samaritan ;)
I reckon it'd be once in 50 years

Well at least you can now pay monthly rather than a 6 or 12 month dollop and as I'm not selling my car I don't care about the transfer issues (for now)

About time we got rid of the archaic paper tax disc and the colossal admin costs of running such a scheme, especially as APNR is used by the police etc... The disc is pointless.

If you buy a car and it's taxed already, it will take days for them to process it at least so will still show as taxed on anpr so nothing to worry about. I agree though, the government will make a fortune selling 2 months tax whenever a car gets sold. It's a stupid system anyway, they should just scrap it and put it on fuel then the more you drive the more you pay.

Yes james DVLA have 10 yes just TEN, APNR units to police the whole UK

The Police will only check taxation on cars caught for insurance evasion at the moment, as the systems not up and running to check tax discs yet

Are you sure about that Darren? As when I got nicked for speeding about 5 years ago the cop checked my tax, mot and insurance all from the numbetplate on a hand held tablet type thing at the side of the road.

As I said dan

The Police will only check taxation on cars caught for insurance evasion at the moment, as the systems not up and running to check tax discs yet

(or re-worded, as check when stopped for a motoring offence)

It's NOT automatic to check just tax alone
