For anything else not specifically DeLorean related....

OK, I need a bit of a guide to what's under the bonnet ;)

Image

I assume the black tank is the petrol tank? Nice and safe?
What is the elephant trunk to the right of it (as you look at the picture)?
And the big cylinder at the centre - air filter? Built in vacuum?
What's the function of the piece of orange 70s wallpaper?

Ha ha yes fuel tank up top, trunk on the right is the heat-exchanger, no water jacket of course being air-cooled, so that trunk picks up heat from the exhaust & channels it to the dash vents, bit like a vw.
The block itself is like a motorbike, just two cylinders side by side, the plugs are just behind the air box, you can see the plug leads feeding there from the coils on the inner wing. Around the cylinders there is a sort of quilted jacket, bit like you put around a hot water cylinder in your house, the cowling you can see on the left has a fan inside it, belt driven off the crank pulley, this sucks cool air in & forces it over the cylinders. Dead simple, communist engineering, cheap to make, so cheap to fix & mobilise the masses, or summat like that!
Oh yeh forgot, it's not wallpaper is Flotex carpet, suppose the previous owners idea of a battery cover

Awesome Julian, I always liked these for some strange reason. Mervyn has about 10 Trabants in a shed in Ireland!
