I can't see the link pictures now, since the listing has ended, but i'm presuming it's the same car...

I was on the "Barmy to Barcelona" wacky rally in 2009 when this Scirocco first appeared. It was in fact this car which re-ignited my immediate attention on looking for affordable DeLorean's to buy, which ultimately led to me buying LEX later that year in September (I used my BMW M3 fund to buy it, and then had to start saving all over again for the M3, which I never bought for a further 3 years nearly).

Anyway, I talked to the makers of the car while we were in Switzerland, crossing the Alps. I was that taken back with the detail and the flashing lights etc on it, that I couldn't help be impressed with their efforts. The intention was that upon reaching Bacelona, the cars would be sold for scrap. the guys who built the time machine admitted that they couldn't do it, and in fact they didn't. they instead drove it all the way back to the UK and sold it, and it's been constantly doing the rounds since. The were called the "Banger to the Future" team.

The cars me and my friends did were a random volvo and some splattered paint on the panels, and the car I participated in, which was originally a metallic green 1996 Nissan Primera, which we bought for £250 and did nothing to, except paint it up to look like Starsky & Hutch's Gran Torino. We called our team "2 Slow NOT 2 Serious" (A taken on the recent film "2 Fast 2 Furious").

We scrapped our car in Barcelona (Something I felt terrible about, because the car was flawless the whole time. Never let us down in any way), so that was it's final journey. Edinburgh to Newcastle, to Amsterdam, to Lille (to start the rally proper) and then down to Barcelona via the Swiss Alps and Monte Carlo and few other places.

Great fun! Would recommend anyone interested, to do it once in their lives. I have other photo's, but not immediately available to me right now (including one of our car with me at the wheel in front of Gaudi's Sagrada Família church.

There appears to be some sort of club. I saw these at Bromley Pageant last year.
