Following on from this post, where a 1913 Silver Ghost turned up here in Atlanta, I was back at this years car show, and pride of place was a 1910 Silver Ghost. It always amazes me which old British cars will turn up at this show amongst the Triumphs and MGs

Unfortunately there wasn't a storyboard next to the car, so I have no idea of it's history. No doubt DC will know

There seems to have been a bit of a restoration going on; apparently this was the barn find status some years back (un-fortunately photo undated)

Alain Schenkel’s 1910 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost 40/50
Alain is a Belgian and the car crosses the globe regularly to attend shows and has been in UK (its original home) many times since.
Coachwork is Roi des Belges by Wilkinson & Sons of Derby
1341 puts it as a series 5 chassis. (with rear wheel brakes only)
It’s AA badge sold 5 years ago

Sadly the one on the car is not it’s original.
Value, for what its worth is about £800K GBP

The other car is a 1933 20/25 but without the chassis number all I can tell you is it looks like a Thrupp and Maberly “D” back Limousine. This wouldn’t have been the original colours, far too garish. But very nice nevertheless.
Both cars are UK registered, and a long way from home.

Value about £45K GBP

FWIW, The owners name in the window of the 1910 was Dan Suskin.

I'd have paid more attention had I know it was a $1M+ car

Dan Suskin is one of the Directors of the Silver Ghost Association (USA) he has a 1913 Ghost of his own. Possibly Alain has entrusted him with the car while its in the US and he's in Belgium or very, very possibly they've done a deal?
Either way its in good hands.
The early date of the car and the Roi des Belges coachwork are what make this a desirable Ghost. Granted there are better driving and more practical combinations of 40/50 & coachbuilder, but this is the "iconic" combination that commands a premium.

A quick check, and the 1913 car that I posted in the link in the OP, was/is owned by Dan Siskin in 2010



so he would appear to be local, but googling him doesn't bring up much, except this paltry group of rust buckets:

He's only got 5 cars more than me though, but no Delorean, so needs to work a little harder

Agreed Darren, in order to reach a pinnacle , and be really recognised a DeLorean must be required

I'll have a word with him next year and point out the obvious hole in his collection.

But now that I know what he looks like (and sounds like - accent is from S Africa) I don't see him in any of the photos.

So he just left his $1M+ car sitting there with all the plebs walking by. And we worry about our cars.
