Obviously there is the fun and experiences which owning a DeLorean has granted me which you can't put a price on, people I've met, friendships I've made, places I've gone simply because I own this funny little car.

If I went back to 1999 I would tell myself to buy the car every time.

This has been the most rewarding aspects of owning my D in my opinion. I'm not interested in any financial price gains at all as I don't see this as the primary factor in owning the car.

I enjoy helping out and fixing these quirky cars. If I was interested in making financial gain for doing so I probably would and factor renumeration for doing so as an off set to my running costs, but it's not in the spirit of things.

I have invested in a beer, pie, curry, kleftiko etc. I get no return other than a sense of well being after finishing it off. Yum

You're obviously taking this thread far too seriously.

None of us here are in it for the % increase in investment.

I never said my cars made me any money Biff? It would only do that if I sold it.
We’re talking hypothetical % increase in market value.
Apart from raising circa £20K for various charities, it’s made me nothing other than happy. (In the main Dan) ;)

Yes you are right, if you are just talking about your hobbie etc.
But earlier in this thread Delorean ownership was talked about in financial terms, compared against other assets/commodities.
In which case, all financial implications should be considered.
A car dealership, where the car is purely seen as asset/profit/loss, would have to consider these implications for the storage unit. (Unless you are 'Wheeler Dealers!' of-course  )
If you truly wanted to remove this cost, you could just park it up, un-insured, on a bit of waste land for 15 years and hope for the best. :?

Yes, but a business is purely using a premises for exactly that, so it has to be included in profit & loss.
If you happen to own a garage, as I do, it has nothing to do with owning a D' or any other car for that matter.
What if I own just a drive, would you include that in the cost of owning a car? Of course not, plenty of people have a drive/garage whatever & don't have a car, that's just a cost on your mortgage/living cost etc, not your car.
If you rent a garage specifically to store it, then yes, otherwise not.
