Some bits prepped for paint.

I hadn't planned on this for the recommissioning. Bit annoying, but so be it.

So I am not great with paint. I have por-15 grey, black por-15 topcoat, and matched original cellulose.

I think the less visible parts I will do with por15 and black topcoat, and the battery box lid and chain case I will do with primer and cellulose.

I may try top coating the por15 in cellulose but suspect that it won't work...

Andy
I think frost auto restoration do an aerosol por15 etch primer that allows you to topcoat it with any thing you want

I like your bikes

Thanks Dan, I actually have some, but sadly my 19 year old left over tin of celly has unsurprisingly gone off.

Oh well, battles scars will be painted over with por-15. Clearly not a match, but at least the tone is similar, and the metal will be protected for now.

These "bug eyes" will go on the front of the 750.

I had put them on previously, but the H3 bulbs didn't last long with the vibration. I will try H3 LEDs, and an LED tail light, I wonder if they will survive any better? May buy a few, and take them with me! It's asking a lot of them.

Guys,

If anyone is still reading, can you advise on using h3 LEDs to replace these bulbs? Are LEDs in this application likely to be usable?? The bulbs were OK, but reading online, h3 LEDs look pretty poor?

Admittedly, I do not expect them to be useful on a dark road, and I do not technical need an mot (1955)

Cheers

This was my first love - well mine actually had a round headlamp and arched numberplate on the front mudguard - but otherwise was identical.

This 50cc beast had all the gear
- Pedal start
- Headlight
....that's it

Thinking back I had very few girlfriends during my ownership of the Motobucane, perhaps it was just too intimidating.

I took the kickstart off. It's just in the way, and it bump starts easily enough, even on the flat.

I fitted the lights, so now she has a cute face

Sadly yes,

I bought for £35 with no v5 or MOT at a jumble sale, i think i sold for about £65 about 10 years later to a friend of my mum who wanted to restore it. I really couldn't justify keeping it as it was just taking up space.

Ironically I now use a scooter quite often for my commute, almost whish I had kept it.

I know, If I had space, I would have kept the scimitar. Sometimes needs must.

I adjusted the head bearings of the 650, fitted the rear lens and checked over the electrics. All good. I decided to leave the robbed bits on the 500 after all, as its complete and ready to go. I will buy new for the 650.

Then, in checking the rear wheel, removed the chain and spent a therapeutic couple of hours washing it, freeing off all the sticky links and lubing it. It was rusty, but eventually freed off. It's now ok, but suspect it won't last very long.

I worked out wiring for the 750. There are a few bits to buy, but most of the wiring is in place. I think I'll get a couple of H3 filament bulbs from halfrauds tomorrow.
