Tonight I’m staying at work rather than going home.
We have Press, film & TV in all through the night (The History Channel are next, in at midnight) the place is truly buzzing in a way never seen before at Goodwood, home of Rolls-Royce.
The future of the motorcar (in the eyes of Rolls-Royce; who others strive to emulate) is being revealed to the masses tomorrow.
103 EX (EX for Experimental) is being shown to the employees tomorrow morning at 8am. The workforce will see for the very first time the first of many experimental cars to come. Cars that WILL shape the future of motoring for the masses.
It has been an immense privilege to be privy to this enormous step in automotive history in the making.
For the last 16 years I have been working with Rolls-Royce and trying to convince them to look at traditional coachbuilt cars. Cars that run the same floorpans yet have individual body designs.
Truly tailored to their owner in every aspect as they once were.
The 103EX is the start of what I hope will be the move back to bespoke coachbuilt motoring I’m longing for and have been relentlessly striving to make happen.
The dawn of an exciting and wonderful age of the motorcar once more.
So I thought I’d share some of the magic with behind the scene setting up for tomorrows reveal to the factory employees before it goes fully viral.
103EX is a fully functioning autonomous vehicle, There are no steering wheel or even pedals and it’s free from all switches and dials. It is FULLY automated and you are chauffeured by “Eleanor” named after Eleanor Thornton the inspiration for Charles Sykes sculptor who immortalised his love for her in the Spirit of Ecstasy.
A masterpiece of innovation, engineering and design…
I give you the 103EX….
