Son's 21st Birthday

For anything else not specifically DeLorean related....

Son's 21st Birthday

Postby Darren C » Mon Mar 25, 2019 9:58 am

Can you believe it my son Adam, was 21 yesterday!
Many of you still probably remember him as the cheeky 10 year old at Eurotec

Anyways, I've been working in secret to restore a 66 Mustang for his Birthday present (his dream car) at Dowsetts (Ant Anstead's For the Love of Cars Garage)

Yesterday we went up on the Train & he got his surprise present 8-)

Owning one which is not running...

21, chuff me.....

It only seemed like yesterday he was a nipper.
Fair play, he a good lad.

Strategic move though Darren, as he'll hopefully remember this moment when he's deciding which nursing home to shove you in when the time comes ;)

Nice one, you got that done quick.. some change from the last time I saw it.

If he is going to be driving it around I would advise getting a pair of trousers which actually fit !!

Thanks Guy's,

It's been a whirlwind as we (Ant Anstead's Team & I) ONLY started the Mustang restoration in January

Car was in a shocking state having been painted Blue badly, then Burgundy badly over the top of its original colour Signal Flare Red

Starting the Bare Metal to remove Burgundy paint over Blue paint, back to Original Red Paint then Steel.

Then strip panels off down to shell to remove paint on inner wings & under arches.

Image

Discovering extent of arch rot under buckets of filler!

Image

Cutting Out & Making new panels

Image

Interior re-trim with new Dash & Seat Covers, including new steel dash panel welded in & painted to original radio fitting (Butchered out for a modern radio by previous owner)

Full repaint to original colour Signal Flare Red with painted in 10” stripes Flatted & lacquered into the paintwork

We did all this in 2 1/2 Months & I was burning the midnight oil far too much.

Dowsetts Classic Cars are an awesome bunch of really passionate guys working miracles. To enable building the New Comet, normal classic restoration is required.
The skills of this hand assembled team by Ant, is truly amazing.

The best kept secret is the hourly rate is ONLY £42 per hour (+VAT) yet the quality is off the scale.

If you need anything doing on your car from Mechanical to Bodywork & paint please consider them (modern or Classic, insurance job or pay as you go)

contact Chris on 07792 339594 or email info@dowsettscars.co.uk for a no obligation quote 8-)

There's some short films & more detail of the rest work on Dowsetts facebook page ;)
