Project "Plonker"

Postby mec » Sat Nov 16, 2019 10:25 am

Hi All

Hope you are all well, So what is Project "Plonker" i hear you ask, well not satistisfyed with having just one project (Poirot) I have bought another !
Some of you will know i use to own a Reliant Regal Super Van 3 (AKA a Del boy van) and some of you will also know that Justin has just bought one, I've always liked them as its my favourite TV series. Anyway me and Dan Stacey have been talking for a while about wanting one too.

Now since me selling my original very nice condition van, prices as they have with the Deloreans have gone up alot and to buy a good one now is out of reach for me, so looking around various ones have come up and ended up selling for more than i can manage, that is until I found this ...

Now I'm under no illusion this is a massive amount of work and its going to take a lot longer than Poirot will, I thought about it alot and it was actually listed on ebay 3 times before i decided to go and see it, anyway a deal was struck and on Monday just gone me and Mr Dan Stacey went down to Rochester in Kent to pick it up again many thanks to Dan for getting hold of a trailer again and helping me out

So ...

We had the chassis and body on Dan's Trailer and all the other parts in my trailer on the back of the Chavved Banana, we got everything back safely and got it all in the garage ...
I have taken pics of all the area that need repairing ...

Ruddy hell rodders! What 'av you gone and done now?

Whilst i think youre mad, i also think its great that eventually there will be another reliant back on the road, especially as its being bought back from the dead.

Is this gonna end up as a del boy wagon or just be a regular reliant?

Yea its going to be a trotter Van, but i dont feel so bad about making it into one because as you say its being brought back from the dead (hopefully) :?

I've been removing whats left of the hardware on it tonight, and started to get the drivers door off so i can start on the fibreglass repairs soon hopefully.

:o Holy hell Mike, that’s some work, good luck with it. I almost bought a Bond Bug which was in about the same state of dismantlement (is that a real word?) although the body was reasonable. Gave it a miss in the end as I thought it was more work than I wanted. You’ve got your hands full with that, but we know you love it
