Thanks mate :) I guessed they were something like that, I saw some on one of your threads, There were none on the other side and I could rattle the arm side to side... Scarily the side with the pics above I undid the main trailing arm bolt with my fingers :(

Some of me thinks I could have waited but then I think doing it now has saved the chassis and it didn't take that long. If I cant get it dipped, fixed and re-assembled in a year there is something wrong (remind me of that). Worst case May 2021 I will have to beg borrow and steal to go shotgun.

My confidence with it has grown considerably as there isn't that much to take out, I estimate perhaps 20-30 items have came off and are stacked in the shed labelled. Such a shame I had a full tank of fuel :(

Hope so :) Thanks chaps.

I am a little nervous about the engine lift. Mainly as I have never lifted an engine out before.

I was planning on keeping the engine and transmission together as its easier. But is it ?. Having seen a write up of someone else doing it. Keeping in mind the chassis is out and most risk I assume is it taking out your lovely rear wings. Thoughts ?

Also I don't have an lift leveller are they essential. See previous comment for my main thoughts on the risk.

I have managed to get a 2 tonne lift with 1.5 tonne capacity at the current setting directly over the engine. When I say over I mean bang in the middle of the 4 lift rings which I assume is CoG(Centre of Gravity) ?

If you are planning on doing the clutch then maybe split them?? Tho some remove the unit complete to even do this.

Never taken the lump out, but i think the CoG is closer to the nose of the gearbox? ie. it will tip "forward" on removal ...?

However, best if someone who has done this comment... :P

Great job Eric brilliant progress, chassis doesn't look to bad. Keep going! .
I lifted my engine and gearbox out in one lump, easier in the long run, as it can be a real pain trying to line up the bell housing to the engine when reinstalling. Easier to mate them back together outside first.
With the chassis away from the body it should be much more straight forward with that extra space but I definitely found the lift leveller to be extra helpful, very handy. In my opinion anyways

You need to lift the engine and box at a steep angle to make it clear the rear cross member.
These are mine for reference if it helps..

Thanks for that...

Leveller is due today so quite excited... I should need less of an angle as there isn't the body to stop it. So there is only a couple of feet of transmission under the frame.

So I am hoping it should be even easier.

Pics to follow of course.
