aaron you really have to decide what you are doing as i said on the phone you are getting all these offers of help and if you leave it much longer then things just wont get sorted out in time for eurotec i would be a great opportunity to get the whole car sorted out including the door and get it back on the road with a full mot on it.
would you mind answering me one question. (and be honest) is it the money side of thing that is causing a problem? if it is then just let us all know so we can all put our heads together and see if we can come up with a solution...as being part of our delorean family im sure there is nothing we cant sort out between us.
if there isnt a money problem then get your finger out and sort out transportation and let the people know whats going on.so that they can help you.
Times getting very short so please get sorted
all the best Tyson

I can arrange a MOT my end, so don't worry about that.

[this paragraph is not a statement of fact, just an opinion] Legally you are allowed to drive an untaxed car on the road if you are driving it to a MOT. Technically you would be driving it to the "nearest place that can repair your car before its MOT", and legally this is fine if you have just failed a MOT - it's a grey area if not, but I can provide you with proof that you have a MOT booked in Hunstanton, and that the EuroTec event is the only place where you can get your car repaired in time. But I would advise against driving through ANPR cameras (usually on motorways) without tax as this will create paperwork. Morally there is nothing wrong either - It is a fact that the only place that you can get your car repaired within 1 month from now is right here - this is a specialist car.

Regarding the AA, you would need to make sure you that you are on the level of cover that transports you to your destination ("relay" I think it's called?), and the level of cover that picks you up from within 1/4 mile of your house (or you need to get further away). Towing that distance will take a few hours before they send the correct truck, so start nice and early. Remove the expired tax disc from your window (and the tax disc holder) - the AA don't check your tax status. Dan and Gez can both talk you through the whole procedure.
One serious problem with this is that it seems that your car drives! - obviously the AA are only going to transport a car that can't move or be fixed by the roadside.

However, you may prefer to get your mate to drop it up here whenever is suitable for him. I have no problem with looking after it for you. I've got a cover and a safe place to put it.

Regarding the door - eventually you are going to need to fix it, and June is the best time to do it. Ed can bring one over, and Chris N can look at it, then if a new one isn't needed Ed can take it back. Just let us know and we can sort it out with Ed. The longer you leave it the worse it's going to get.

Obviously you've got it on video and I'm sure Pete will verify that your insurance will cover it (I assume you're insured?!). But again - I'm sure we can all work something out with Ed and Chris if money is going to be an issue while the insurance is being sorted.

If you don't want the help Aaron then let us know and we'll move on the next one on the list. We're trying to sort out the weekend's itinerary at the moment, and if we're going to "pimp" a different car instead then we'll need time to select one and source the required parts.

In addition to the two options for transport above, me and Al can possibly arrange transport for certainly under £200 one way - but that would be just a car, not a person too! i.e. if you were planning to drive it back then you would need to get the train here.

If it wasnt a bloody auto it would be easier to tow!

Ok...Ed has a drivers door which he said he will bring and fit in his van...we have to let him know soon and I mean soon.

Just get the car there Aaron, when you said on Facebook it only runs for a while...does it cut out on its own? will it restart?

Hi,

Firstly let's address the door issue, just to confirm possible sources are:

Delorean12uk's door from his other delorean (arranj may be able to assist with transport)

Or

A new door (but being in excess of €1000 -this is not a preferred option.)

I'm hoping that the door might be able to repaired.

Secondly,

The delorean may appear to be running now, but this is what i've noticed:

A puddle of liquid on the garage floor [below where the engine was].

when taking my foot off the accelerator, the engine stops.

Finally,

Transportation.

I happen to agree with you that £400 is a bit much :!:

Also, the guy i know is now out of the country until mid-July :(

I'm going to get a quote from a local company, if they are cheaper i'll go with them.

P.S.

If you are going to me between 08:30 & 17:30 please use my Vodafone number [07502477772], this is because where I work there is no reception from Orange [07794489040]

P.P.S.

I would like to thank everyone for there support.

Hi Aaron - ok, me and Al have been on this today.

Door:

How much do you think it's going to be to repair it?!! Your realise that it is a big job, and won't be far off £1000 anyway. especailly when you factor in getting the car to Chris and back again. Chris won't be able to repair the door at EuroTec - that is definite. Also any door repair is likely to involve a full re-grain of the car otherwise it will look stupid. It will end up costing more than a new door, and even then it might not be able to be repaired.
Yes - if Jason is really happy about lending you his door then I can get it transported to the event for free. However you need to factor in the cost of removing this door again, and getting it back to Jason....

I really think a new door is your only option. Remember that by getting a new door now you will save completely the cost of fitting it and shipping it. Plus also the £-Euro rate will never be a good as it is now, thanks to Greece. Ed has confirmed he can get a door brought over for FREE shipping, but you need to decide now, as he is running out of space. There will never be another chance of getting it fitted for free. If you don't do it now, you'll have to get the car to Chris's, pay him to fit it, and get the car back again - none of these things are cheap. BUY A NEW DOOR NOW AND IT WILL BE DONE, SORTED, FINISHED IN JUNE.

Your insurance will cover the door (I assume). And I cannot enphasise enough - YOU NEED TO MAKE A DECISION ON THIS RIGHT NOW

Transport:

I can get your car transported one way for £346.63. This is without you! You will need to get the train. I can happily cover £96.63 of this, you just need to find £250 and your train fare. My £96.63 offer does not apply to any transport you arrange.

MOT:

Hopefully I can get a MOT booked for you here on the Saturday.

Puddle of water / getting the thing going:

Knowing who is here over the weekend (i.e. everyone), the chances of it not working by Saturday are very very very slim indeed. YOU WILL NEVER AGAIN GET THIS OPPORTUNITY - HEED MY ADVICE! - THIS IS GOING TO SAVE YOU THOUSANDS!

I hear what you say about the door, and have already started chasing up the insurance company to possibly pay for a new one.

Thanks to the current Euro status £872 doesn't sound as bad as in excess of €1000 :)

As for transport £250 sounds much better than £660 :!:

The car is still being assessed by the insurance company, work cannot be done on it until this is completed.

It seems that they are taking so long that it wont be ready for Eurotec.

Things are a bit crazy at work at the moment, it my effect the time i have booked off for this, I'm gonna double-check tomorrow that the leave i've booked is confirmed cannot be cancelled.
