Full times, breakdowns, pictures, videos and analysis will come tomorrow. There are some interesting conclusions...

lol! Well using my extensive knowledge of window stickers I'm sticking with Dan, I think! :?

According to the calculator: http://www.torquecars.com/tools/quarter-mile-time.php it's a pretty good time no? According to the VIN plate a D is 1440Kg, plus petrol and driver and luggage.

Did you both have the same fuel level? Same breakfast?

I see you are getting some recognition on "other forums"! ;) http://www.mkiiisupra.net/bbs/showthread.php?p=312185

Well I think it's time to end the speculation.

I can confirm that Car A is....... Dan.

Dan was running consistent 16.3s and I was running consistent 17.0s (my best time of 16.805 being a slight anomaly in that my next closest was a 16.98). The only thing I 'won' was the 2 quickest reaction times (0.318 and 0.299) and the fastest 0-60ft time (2.29secs)

Even when I got the jump on Dan when he arsed up the start (see pics) he still pulled me back in and ultimately beat me over the line by 0.04 of a second.

So - what was going on? Car fuel loads were similar (1/4 of tank), driver weight similar, I perhaps had 10-15kgs of crap in my car after camping the night before, but Dan has a galvanised chassis - perhaps with that much weight in zinc to carry.

But when we went through the specs we realised there may be one critical difference between the two cars. Whilst both our cars have the Volvo fuelling setup, my car never had the ignition distributor changed over with the fuelling. This is a key component of the Volvo fuelling upgrade (according to Martin G) and would also probably explain why my car put out the same power as Al's did with stock fuelling on the dyno at Eurotec. Is it possible that the Volvo fuelling simply makes no difference unless you've got the correct ignition distributor to make the most of it?

Overall though, a very entertaining day. It's also worth comparing our times to the best figures I've found from 1981 - Car and Driver got a 17.0 at 79mph. Other figures I've found have been 17.5 or so: http://www.entermyworld.com/cat/article ... 81f1x1.jpg

So whilst my car would only appear to be 0.2secs better than a catted stock car fresh from the factory - it's also worth bearing in mind we were running into a strong headwind yesterday, which experts reckon was worth half a second. Which is quite significant. I'll be putting a little onboard video together shortly which I'll upload for your perusal!
