Freeside-Tec - USA

Postby Dangermouse » Mon May 02, 2011 4:00 pm

In the absence of my usual outlet, I must get my forum posting fix elsewhere, and the dml just doesn’t do it for me :? (Sorry it isn't as glamourous as Breakfast-Tec)

The South Eastern DeLorean Owners Club had a small gtg on Saturday in downtown Atlanta. (it would have been bigger but with the forum being down, many of the attendees didn’t have the address :( )

Local owner Buddy (aka nullset on dmctalk) had purchase a second DeLorean a couple of months ago. You may remember it as being the bad BTTF replica that had been sitting outside a gas station for 6 years. (insert dmctalk link here ;) ). He shipped it to Freeside (a communal hacker workspace he is a member of, in downtown Atlanta)

He needed to separate the body from the frame to repair a problem with the fuel lines at the accumulator. So seven of us turned up to help. Final result.....

Operation successful, and the repairs can commence. This is what started it all an forced the body removal

In related news, I then took the opportunity to fit the track rod ends that I bought from this DeLorean Club last year – nice product. My toe-in is still way off (actually still toe-out) so some adjustment needed.

The chassis is surprisingly good. Once he gets the frame cleaned and the fuel lines sorted out, he's going to spray/powder coat those lovely neon suspension components.

Biggest problem is that the engine is a non-runner. He has also bought a spare 3.0 PRV engine, but it is an unknown quantity as well. Needs to work on the OEM one and get it running. Then he has to start on all the BTTF stuff. Most of it is sub-par, but there was a good fc and Mr Fusion, so that's a start.

I think it got caught in the time-space continuum during it's last time travel.

Either that or Buddy was trying to separate the union from underneath, which is supposedly impossible. The recommended way is to cut the flexible line and splice in a new piece.
