Hi all,

I enjoyed taking part in a classic car rally at the weekend and the photos have just been released online. :driving1:

Most were taken at the Millbrook Proven Ground http://www.millbrook.co.uk/Page/Home which is featured on Top Gear quite a bit. The latter were taken at Porsche Silverstone.

Great way to test the completed suspension upgrades:-

Protech ‘oil filled’ aluminium shocks (twin adjustment at the rear + single adjustment at the front)
Kutchen strut brace
DPNW ARB kit
New rubber bushes all round
UK front lower springs
Bryan Pearce upper and lower stainless control arms

Are you going to add Ed's lower control arm upgrades to your package?

Hi James,
I actually bought a set at Eurotec in June but changed my mind afterwards before fitting them for a number of reasons:-

1) - The finish would have come off (I saw a chip in the finish, an early sign that they'll need recoating a lot based on where they sit) and overlaying the stainless steel control arm would be a shame on this basis
2) - They were at the time largely unproven and just after I bought them the forums were rife with possible issues. I didn't want to take the risk and felt I can always add them at a later stage. Also getting a feel with the current setup will help me notice the change made by possibly fitting a set in the future....
3) - Based on point one a stainless version would appeal greatly.

I'd be very curious to hear how Jez has found having them fitted to his car i.e. has the car been driven hard/long enough yet to determine the level of improvement and whether other components have suffered based on them being in place?

I believe the next one is September this year (then again in April next year) but ca't find any firm details as yet.

The route for the two events I've done were from Frosts in Woburn Sands, MK > Prodrive (near Gaydon) for the 2012 event (a number of years ago it was Porsche Towcester instead) > Millbrook Proving Ground > Porsche Silverstone. Lots of B roads with the most adverse of cambers I've ever driven on connecting each stage of the rally. I bottomed out only once compared to three times at slower speeds on the stock shocks a few years back.

As per the 'unidentified' section in the link below it just goes to show by the look of it that just about anything can take part. Surprising that a lightly modded Ford Focus MKI can ben 'unidentifed'.

Huge fun. You're given pace notes so a navigator is imperitive unless you try and catch up with who left before you (staggered starts as its a rally not a race) and follow them.

This would be great event for the club to take part in be it a classic Corvette, Chaved Banana, MGA, Rolls or even an unofficial BTTF replica... ;)

It's a charity based event with the entry free being around £60. I'll post some information when its available and we could use it as a excuse for a get together :D FYI Milton Keynes is around 25 mins from M40 junctions 10/11 or M1 junctions 13/14. Its an early start, always been on a Sunday and normally over mid afternoon.
