BTTF III

Postby Markymark » Fri May 31, 2013 8:39 pm

Hi All

I'm being a little sad sitting in on a Friday night watching BTTF III. Help me out on something?

In BTTF II at the end Doc Brown gets struck by lightening in 1955 and gets send back to 1885.

Bear with me, Marty gets a letter from Doc in 1955 to say where he was and where the Delorean was buried. They find it in the mine, get the D running and go back to 1885.

When Marty arrives in 1885 he ruptures a fuel line which ends up them blowing up the " fuel injection manifold" trying to run in on whiskey. Thus using a train to push it up to 88mph.

Surely why didn't they use the original Delorean Doc buried in the mine a few days/weeks earlier as there would have been two of them in 1885.

Doh! See he is not so intelligent. Lol.

Mr Bourne, I watched BTTF 3 Saturday night L.O.L. I think it's because the future Delorean thats buried doesn't use unleaded because it fly's?? I just made that up, but maybe it used Avgas instead because it flew??? Maybe like me, because the first/future/flying car was already buried he couldn't be bothered to get it out, or if he had got it back out, would that then caused a paradox because it was buried when they got to it in 1955??? and if they reburied without the fuel how would it have worked in 1955 to get back to 1885??? because in 1955 they wouldn't have had unleaded??? thats heavy!!!

Jason's right - there are two main problems.

Firstly the buried DeLorean is also knackered (there is some reference to repairs needed, which 1955 Doc eventually does), but it does possibly have a tank of gas...? That isn't made clear though - he could just as easily drained the tank when he got there for a science experiment?

Secondly - if he touches the first DeLorean then Marty won't have a DeLorean in 1955(BTTF2 version) in order to go back and help Doc in the first place - I see your point in that just by swapping bits they could possibly do that....

So basically it just hinges on whether the first DeLorean has a tank of gas. My theory is that the crackpot Doc used the gas to heat up his anvil or something! 8-)

If they took the manifold off the buried delorean in 1885, then in 1955 when they dug it out it wouldn't work and there were no volvo 760s around in 55 to rob another manifold off ;) Also even if they had fixed the manifold back in 1885 then they would have blown it up again trying to run it on whiskey. Nick T wasn't there to adjust the K-jet to suit running on alcohol ;)
