Unfortunately Rob, yes they are - we've tolerated it until now, but the final straw was when we were at Brooklands around a month ago. We came back from having a coffee to find a muddy footprint in the passenger seat of John Dennys car, along with what looked like sherbet all over the door sill.
I have no issue with people sitting in my car, as long as they are polite enough to ask. Unfortunately a lot of people tend to see the open doors and think it is an open invitation to just jump in, and the parent's do nothing to stop their kids either when they jump in and start riving on the indicator and wiper stalks.
So after the foot print incident I bought some lengths of electrical conduit and cut it down to size. We've been to three shows since and no one has attempted to sit in the cars with these in place, so they appear to be doing their job - it's amazing how many comments we've heard from people walking by who think the bars are structural.
