Lucky enough you can still get into the center of Amsterdam with a Delorean. In other big city's Deloreans and other older cars are not allowed , enviromental zones. There are some good secure places. I use the one at the olympic stadium and take public transportation to the centra. But I am nu expert on Amsterdam, sure there are other people on this forum that know more about it then me.

Count Kate and I in for the 3rd. We are thinking of an overnight stay in Folkstone on the Thursday night and an early tunnel crossing the next morning and drive up from there. The rest of the DBros and us are also looking at maybe one night stay in Ypres on the Sunday on the way back. Been looking at crossing costs and will probably leave it a few weeks to book as prices fluctuate.

The Amstel Botel is reasonable price wise. And has plenty of parking. I stay there fairly regularly.

OK - looking at the various options for most of us to get there - what do we think. There are 3 main options:

Ferry from Harwich:
8 hours ferry - leave Friday 09:00-17:15 - 50 miles the other side (1 hour). £175 return for 2 people with a car or £145 for 1 person.

Tunnel:
A fair bit quicker - 225 miles the other side though (4 hours), I guess about the same price with petrol etc. Tunnel is about £130 return.

Fly from Stansted:
Easyjet - plenty of flights at reasonable times - e.g. Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon - total price about £100 per person return.

What do you reckon?

Ed seems quite flexible about when we can go over and see him (he's about 45 min away) - but just factor in transport if that is the case.

I'd probably prefer the ferry personally. Have opted to take the car, but that doesn't mean I want to cover distance in it!!

Cheers

OK - just a quick check on this as I'm not completely sure the demand is there to justify bothering with - or is it? Current plan is something like:

Tunnel crossing on Friday 3rd March at about 10:20. 4 hour drive the other side to Amsterdam to arrive about 4pm. Option to fly as well of course.
Stay for 2 nights in a hotel with decent parking fairly central or with good tram links. There is plenty of choice at the moment.
Drive over to Ed's on the Saturday for lunch, and a tour of DeLorean Europe.
Return on Sunday afternoon.

Total price is around £140 return for the tunnel crossing, add petrol, hotel maybe £150 total per twin room.

All of the "usual" girls have said they are not going, for whatever reason, so it would be men only
This rules out some of the people who had previously said they wanted to go, leaving about 9 or 10 "definites"....

So what is the consensus? Do I persevere and firm up hotel choices etc., or is there not enough demand? I am driving to Ed's whatever happens, although I am not necessarily tied to this date.

The potential list as I understand so far it is:

Me (going anyway, but not on this date if this "event" doesn't go ahead)
Julian (last confirmed about 2 weeks ago) - driving with me if so
Spratty (confirmed definite today) - flying
Gary (Chris's mate, probable) - flying
Admin-bloke (said yes to me 2 weeks ago) - flying
Andy D(?) - driving?
Justin(?) - driving?
Ben(?)
Nigel(?) (mentioned on this thread?) - driving??
Mec(?) (mentioned on this thread) - driving?

Let me know if you are interested - whether you are on this list or not...!

On another note, I am working on the main summer event (in England), standby for details of this, hopefully within 2 weeks.
