If we could look at ferry times etc. though we could show the Europeans how we do things UK-style on the way. That ferry goes from France or Spain and takes ages

Yes. I think Holyhead to Dublin is best but Stranraer to Belfast is handy enough. Waiting to hear about group discounts on that and Holland to UK too

It would be nice if Frenchies could meet you all on the way and drive together.
I did not check myself for ferries straight from FR to IRL, I guess the best route is Eurotunnel.
For myself, I'm not sure I can come for now.

I am pricing eurotunnel and ferry from Holland, hotel at Holyhead for everyone before ferry to Dublin on the Thursday morning. Return journey will include price for a hotel at Folkestone to break up the journey home for our European chums.

We are going to try to get all together. Matt is currently sorting it - hotel-wise. Although we probably need to seriously consider staying over in England on the way.

... what do you think is the best way to arrive from Italy ??

I was considering travelling along France to the north, 1300km, then taking the ferry to south of Ireland and drive across it to Belfast.

Is it a good idea? What are the prices of the france-ireland ferries go and back, usually ? I saw high price during the summer, but lower in other months.... what could be in may ?
