Sounds like the karting went well, with 20 odd cars on the track

I am hearing reports of overtaking occurring during yellow flags… by a certain person.

Karting was great fun to watch (I had to sit it out unfortunately). 21 riders in total after Tom Denny had a last minute change of mind. It was probably too many for that circuit tbh, a couple of smaller groups would’ve been better.

It also might have prevented the very early crash on the first lap which allowed some (well one person) to get out in front and out of sight almost straightaway! This person held that lead until the end, despite strong competition from Alex, Ed and Arran… I’m not saying the crash helped them, but driving through yellow flags and overtaking on more than one occasion could have given them an edge… :?

Honourable mention to Dan for keeping going and finishing in a respectable place after crashing badly and getting out of his kart. As well as Arran, who I think recorded the best lap time and overtook the most drivers, coming from 9th to finishing 4th! :jzd:

There should be an automatic 10 second penalty for each violation

Seeing as I appear to be getting beat up on here - I’d just like to stick up for myself by saying I can only remember one questionable lapping close to a yellow flag incident - but in my defence the yellow flags themselves are inconsistent and it’s unclear where they begin and end, as it’s usually just one guy briefly waving one. So it shouldn’t apply once you clear the incident (which in itself may only last a few seconds if it’s a simple spin) and if the flag is two corners ahead of you, then does it apply now if the marshal next to you isn’t waving one? There was a lot of traffic on the course with some variable speeds so it was always going to be an issue and I very much doubt there was much difference in lapping behaviour between the faster karts! IMO clean safe overtakes are the gold standard, as opposed to some of the ‘contact sport’ that was going on with some of the other drivers.

Anyway, was an excellent race - I didn’t see the first lap incident. What happened?

And on the topic of what constitutes noteworthy ‘bad driving’ for public shaming - ought to point out that the full speed ramming i took from behind on lap 6, an impact that spun me off the track (at the left hand hairpin before the finish line) and more importantly has still left me with bruised ribs and bent and smashed the phone in my pocket - constitutes far greater offending than ambiguous yellow flag offences (of which I can only recall one).

The defence rests.
