The Biggest Ever MarchTec - Winter Meetup, Norfolk 1/2 March

Postby arranj » Tue Nov 07, 2023 6:36 pm

OK - here it is, this is the big one...!

As a celebration of our 15th year, and by very popular request, for March 2024 we are returning to where it all started, for what will be the most well-attended March meet-up ever.
This is over the weekend of 1st and 2nd March 2024 - with some keen people arriving on Thursday 29th February.

All friends of the club are welcome - owners and non-owners alike - this is all about socialising and meeting new (and some old!) faces.

Image

As with the highly successful sell-out EuroTec events from "back in the day", this will be centred around the same hotel that, shall we say, has a very close link to me personally - link here: http://www.caleyhallhotel.co.uk
Rather than the 40-car summer events, the focus here is on socialising (the car park will be a bit too cold!). If you've never been before don't be scared! Many people who come to these meet-ups only know one or two others (or less). This is a good way to meet up with like minded people and swap tips, for non-owners there will be more time to ask questions, look around the cars, etc.

The hotel is open to the general public, but not many of them, so we won't have exclusive use of the entire hotel - but we have block booked 95% of it (because 5% was already booked). This event will sell out, guaranteed.

The Itinerary: (1,2 or 3 nights available! - 2 night example shown below)
- Arrive Friday from 12:00 onwards
- Socialise, congratulate those who've braved the cold/snow in their DeLoreans
- Buffet dinner at 8pm-ish
- Beer etc. (bar is open late!)
- Sleep
- Saturday - Breakfast
- Hang around car park kicking tyres, etc., wander to the beach
- Buffet lunch in the bar at 1:00
- Explore the local seaside town of Hunstanton - probably bowling (will sort this nearer the time)
- Buffet dinner at 8:00
- Beer etc. (bar is open late!)
- Sleep
- Sunday - Breakfast
- Go home

Total Price for 2 nights of accommodation and the 5 meals: (dinner, breakfast, lunch, dinner, breakfast):

Sharing a double or twin room: £160 total per person(£320 total bill per couple) (£80 per person per night including all meals and Sat lunch!)
Single occupancy of a double room: £240 total (£120 per room per night including all meals and Sat lunch!)

ALTERNATIVELY - Price for just the Friday night only with 2 meals: (dinner, breakfast) ("Saturday night only" is not on option at the moment)

Sharing a double or twin room: £80 total per person(£160 total bill per couple)
Single occupancy of a double room: £120 total

YES - THESE PRICES INCLUDE ALL MEALS!

If you would like to extend your stay to include the Thursday night as well then the extra night would be just £60 per room for B&B only (based on 2 people sharing), or £45 for single occupancy (B&B only). These rates are really very attractive even for this time of year.

If you would like to come along for just the day on Saturday only then you're more than welcome - you'll just have to pay for lunch if you want it, or evening meal (not sure on prices for that yet) - only if you want it. Please ideally just mention it in this thread if you are going to come along for either day (without staying), or if you have any other questions. If you'd rather not post here  then click here to send a message to Arran now.

All welcome!

How to book:

At the moment, due to high demand leading to a shortage of rooms, this cannot be booked via the hotel directly.

For the next few days you can just go through me or Alistair if that's easier - email me at arran at deloreango dot com is easiest, but there are many other ways! I'm not hard to find.
Several of you have already booked via me or Alistair and those are all officially booked in with the hotel as of today - no further action is required. I'll be in touch one way or another to confirm this with you in the next few days.

This can't be booked online via the hotel's website, because this date has been blocked off to stop anyone (else) booking. But there are rooms available at the moment for all variations except those wanting a room for just 1 night on "Saturday only", which is now not available, but Friday/Saturday, Friday only, or anything involving Thursday is available.

Great news for everyone involved!!

The demand has been very very strong and it’s already close to selling out

Thanks to Arran and the proprietors for getting this all arranged.

Roll on March!

OK - so a quick update. Currently there is just one room left - so if anyone wants to book, now is the time :) - just let me know somehow.

On Thursday night it is a quiz night at the hotel bar, obviously they'd love it if you joined in.

Current numbers are 53 people in total booked in for both Friday and Saturday nights (1 person for Friday only) - and 4 that I'm currently aware of that are also booked in for Thursday night.
If anyone wants to change or add anything please just let me (or Alistair) know.

Further update with 2 weeks to go.....!

If you need to cancel / check you are booked in / book a room - now is the time! With a couple of cancellations and some extras we now stand at just over 50 people and weather-dependent I suppose over 15 DeLoreans perhaps...(?)
The hotel has 2 available rooms - and are no longer holding these for us, so now is the time to book if you still want one. Either let me or Alistair know, or failing that feel free to book with the hotel direct and use "DeLorean" as your surname and it will probably get spotted and price corrected.

4 people, that I'm currently aware of, are also booked in for Thursday night. If anyone wants to change or add anything (or some on the Thursday) please just let me (or Alistair) know.

Our return to Caley Hall for the first time in 12 years ( I think ? ) was a resounding success.

The staff looked after us once again from start to finish - in great surroundings.

Some of my pics .. well done Miles for working last minute to get his B280E conversion to the ball !

Carl H arrived on a tow truck , but of course drove home!

Can’t believe Gez actually handed over money ? Has to be a first ?Image
