Going by the year, it is most likely a B280E in that car, not a B28E. It doesn't help that there are zero pictures.

thought the B280E was introduced in 1988....

would have thought the B280E would work carrying over all the fuel & ecu's etc ... I have a 1989 Volvo 760 car with a B280E have to say I think it would be a super job if it was in a D. Big bang engine with EFI ...would be a better fit than the 3.0 v6 as fitted to laguna. has anyone fitted one?

either way worth a punt running with low mileage ....the engines are starting to get scarce on the ground.

B280E can be fitted into a D, but it is a big job, as you say all the electronics etc need to be transferred over, so it isn't as much of a drop in replacement as the B28E.

Not sure of anyone who's actually done a B280E swap in the UK? As you say, would be a lovely engine to drop in but I think the EFI is just too much of a pain to rig.

I've seen one in one of Keith s D's. It doesn't look bad to wire in, depends if you can follow wiring I suppose. ..
